So you want to play online poker in the US? After Black Friday in 2011, accessible online poker in the US temporarily became a thing of the past. The going has been slow, but online poker is coming back, state by state and workaround by workaround. To be clear, we are not commenting on the legality, or lack thereof, of any of these websites. Since Black Friday, the government has been very opaque about the status of online gaming in the US. So access any of these sites at your own risk.
We’ve talked with our members and extensively researched sites online and here are the consensus choices for the best sites US residents can access in 2022:
Ignition Poker – This site has been online for a few years now and built a strong reputation in that time. Ignition is now the number one site for US players. They have taken over Bovada (formerly Bodog), and therefore have a history that goes back over a decade. Ignition has some significant sign up bonuses and a good reputation for quick payouts. They also enable play on your smartphone or tablet. Simple methods for buy-in and cash out make Ignition an excellent choice for US poker players. America’s Cardroom– America’s Cardroom is known for soft play and easy payouts. They have been online since 2001 and stepped in to bail out Doyle Brunson’s players after the events of Black Friday. This site was small but is growing rapidly. They offer sign up bonuses and even a bad beat jackpot! They also offer some big money tournaments. As the name indicates, they are clearly targeting players seeking to play online poker in the US. And they are doing so successfully. There are rarely fewer than 1,000 cash players on the site at any given time. While there is no specific Mobile app, mobile play through a web browser is quite adequate.
Americas Cardroom provides large welcome bonuses. There is a Supersized 200% Bonus with any first cryptocurrency deposit. If you deposit with a standard method, you’ll receive a 100% welcome bonus. Both of these rewards come with a maximum bonus amount of $1,000.

BetOnline– BetOnline, registered in Panama, has a bit of a shady history. However, since their acquisition of Sportsbetting.ag, they have cleaned up their act and currently have an excellent reputation, and reportedly treat their players well. Payouts are said to be fast, and their interface is good quality. They also have a Bad Beat jackpot. However, payout fees are much higher than average and their customer service gets spotty reviews. They also offer a sportsbook, casino, racebook, eSports, and more in addition to poker. There is also a downloadable mobile app, in addition to being able to access the site through your web browser.
Access from: All but NJ, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada, and Washington
Games Available: Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Stud, 32 Card Draw, Americana, Razz; Cash and Tournaments
Currency: Buy In – Wide variety, including Visa, check, money order, or bitcoin; Cash out – Prepaid debit card, check, money order, bitcoin, or skrill
Club WPT.com– Club WPT takes a different approach. They skirt the legal issue by charging a monthly fee rather than transferring cash in for direct play. “Cash games” are for play money only, but they do have tournaments where the payouts are real. You can also satellite into live WPT tournaments through the online interface. Cash outs require going through a documentation process and waiting for a check to be mailed to you, which is a lot more difficult than the other rooms.
Access from: All states except Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Washington State
Games Available: Hold’em, Omaha, Stud
Currency: Buy In – Credit Card; Cash Out – Check
